Glen Campbell: gentle on my mind
I have had the fortune of having a short article published in The Guardian today. OK, it’s in the family section and I won’t be giving up the day job on the proceeds but it gave me a chance to be a bit nostalgic/sentimental/mawkish* about an old record. Read it here.

No point in having a USB turntable and not using it...
One of the best things when I used to dj a few years back was if someone asked you what was playing because they thought it was great and wanted to track it down. I intend to post on this blog in the same spirit.
And there's room for some curios in everyone's record collection and there should be no shame in airing them, albeit sparingly, along side the good stuff. I think I can be guilty of liking a song just for the drum track and this pre-disposition may come to the fore occasionally. Drummers should stick together after all.
One of the worst things that happened when dj-ing was being told "I'm only going to forgive you for not playing 'Ride On Time' because you look like James Nesbitt." I don't. I don't play no Black Box records either.
mp3s are posted for a limited time so you can hear the songs before trying to buy vinyl or cd. If you have any objection to these sample songs being posted then email me and I'll remove them.
