Postcard Records. Former Headquarters, 1979 - 1981: “The Sound of Young Scotland”
After some very simple research, I found it. Two flights up. In West Princes Street, West End, Glasgow. It was no secret really. And a stone’s throw from my own apartment.
It’s just a flat now, no visible plaque in place alluding to its former life. But some thirty-odd years ago, it was home to a nineteen-year-old Alan Horne, a self-proclaimed “Andy Warhol” and music producer, who churned out thirteen singles/records by some of Scotland’s most celebrated “Do-It-Yourself” names: Orange Juice, Josef K, Aztec Camera, and the Go-Betweens.
Postcard put Scotland on the cultural map.
If you’re wondering if I felt odd taking a photo of some random person’s home, the answer is yes. Very.
But this was still pretty damn cool.
